Leverett Parents & Guardians, The Arkansas Department of Education requires schools to conduct certain drills throughout the school year. You are familiar with fire and tornado drills however, one of the newer drills is called an Intruder Drill. This week students will be engaged in lessons that teach the A.L.I.C.E. method (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate). These lessons are designed to help children know how to keep themselves safe if ever faced with a life-threatening event at school. These lessons will culminate in practicing an intruder drill. Your child(ren) may likely come home talking about the method and the drill. It is important that you know what we are teaching in response to keeping our students and staff safe at Leverett Elementary. You may find more information about the “I’m not scared, I’m prepared” ALICE program online at https://www.alicetraining.com/news/press-release-posts/alice-announces-new-childrens-book-im-not-scared-im-prepared-2/ Please contact me should you have any questions regarding this matter.
