These seniors have the opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million that will be offered later this spring. More than 1,5 million high school juniors entered the 2021 competition by taking the PSAT exam last school year.

“I am pleased to see this well-deserved recognition come to these outstanding scholars,” said Dr. John L Colbert, Superintendent of Schools. “Fayetteville High School has a strong tradition of producing many National Merit Finalists each year, and the Class of 2021 has performed extremely well.”

“Being named a National Merit Finalist is a tremendous honor,” said Fayetteville High School principal Dr. Jay Dostal. “It shows a huge commitment to academic excellence and these students are so deserving of this honor. Fayetteville High School has a strong tradition of having multiple National Merit Finalists, and this group of students continues this proud history.”
