ALLPS Summer Letter To Parents

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Welcome to the current school year at ALLPS. If you are receiving this letter, then your child has a schedule to attend ALLPS this school year.  So please follow the guidelines listed in this letter.

ATTENDANCE the first week:

School begins Tuesday, August 13th.  Students will attend Tuesday - Friday of this week on a regular schedule Every student enrolled in morning classes will need to attend all week until 10:00am on the first week of school. Night and Virtual School students will need to attend Night School to complete required paperwork within 10 days of the start of the school. Lack of completion of this process may hinder a student’s enrollment.  NO SCHOOL for ALLPS students on Friday, August 23 and August 30th to prepare staff for necessary training and seek children who has not returned to school.

CLOSED CAMPUS

Students are NOT ALLOWED to leave campus at all during the school day. Students may eat in the cafeteria or in areas designated by administration. Students who leave campus during this time may be subject to a reduced day schedule and or night school placement.

STUDENT CONTACT/EMERGENCY INFORMATION AND DETAILS

BACK TO SCHOOL GATEWAY is the new paperless back to school packets @ https://update.fayar.net, link opens on July 29th. Parents/Guardians should have received a postcard, email or text from FPS with instructions to complete the new school year required paperwork and it will contain the parent username and password to access your student(s) account. This new system will replace the paper packet students normally brought home the first week of school. The Back to School Gateway registration must be completed to guarantee placement for the fall.  Parents that do not have access to a computer or are having trouble logging in may come to ALLPS to complete the online registration for the new school year.

ARKANSAS DRIVER’S PERMIT

Students will no longer need the school letter to take the driver permit test. They will only need the following documents:   1. Birth Certificate (not a photocopy) Plus one of the following:     A. School Transcript B. Arkansas State ID C. School ID D. Passport      E. Health Insu Card with name on it

Home Access Center (HAC) – also known as the “Parent Grade Viewer”, allows the student/parent to see the class schedule, monitor grades, and attendance. Parents will be sent an email from District Tech in August to remind them of their HAC login information. This login information does not change, so if you previously had a login you may continue to use the same login information. You can access this by going to the ALLPS website, click “Parent Grade Viewer” or directly from your APP under “Check Grades.” Please contact the FPS Technology Dept. about your HAC login access, if you have problems.

STUDENT SCHEDULES

Students will receive a hardcopy of their class schedule from their advisory teacher on the first day of school Schedule changes will be made based on need. Contact student’s advisory teacher or counselor

SCHOOL OF INNOVATION

This designation allows the school to waive students attending school on Fridays when they have earned the time off by maintaining passing grades, appropriate behaviors, and satisfactory attendance.  All students will be expected to participate in some specified grade level Friday activities. A calendar is attached of the required Fridays this quarter.

COMMUNICATION TO STUDENTS/PARENTS

We continue to work on ways to make our communication with students and parents more efficient and effective.  Communication will be made via text messaging, weekly email newsletter, ALLPS website, and our Facebook. Staff will use the School Status messaging system to communicate directly to parents about students.

Bus Transportation General Information- Parents who need general information about bus routes/times can go to the FPS district website, click on “Departments & Programs” (choose “Transportation”), then under “Links” on right-hand side of page click on “Find your Bus Stop”). If you need additional help you may call the Transportation Dept at 479-444-3095 EXT 10

Parking is free at ALLPS; however, all vehicles must be insured and all students must be licensed to drive.  The student parking lot is located in the lot north of the FHS Track building, not the parking lot located on Old Farmington Rd.

School supplies are available to students via the teachers in the ALLPS classrooms. No lockers are available.

Lunch Applications

  • Breakfast will be available daily to all students at NO Cost.

  • Lunch will be a cost based on a student’s income.

  • Apply for free and reduced lunch benefits online in the Back to School Gateway registration.

  • We encourage all households to complete the meal benefit application in Back to School Gateway registration or use the link above. A student’s meal benefit will carry over from the previous year for the first 30 days of school, at which time (Sept. 25th) if a current application has not been processed, they will revert to full pay.

  • ADD money to lunch account: Parents may create an online meal account for their student at www.myschoolbucks.com. This allows a parent to add money to their child’s account via Debit/Credit Card at any time. There is a $2.50 fee per transaction. You may also send payment to the ALLPS Cafeteria with their student or mail-in payments to the Child Nutrition Office at 2233 W. Stone Fayetteville, AR. 72701.  As a reminder – we do not allow students to charge meals when there is lack of funds in their account.

Military Opt-Out -- 11th grade students/parent.  Each year we are required to provide each 11th grader an opportunity to “opt-out” if they do not want ALLPS to release their directory information to military agencies. Email Heather Armstrong at Heather.Armstrong@g.fayar.net if you would like to opt-out.
